Are you a candidate for this procedure?
Good general health and realistic expectations are prerequisites. This procedure is not recommended if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure or significant problems with dry eyes.
How is the procedure done?
Dr. Lozinski uses an Ultrapulse 5000 laser to remove excess skin and fat. This advanced CO2 laser has the advantage of sealing blood vessels as the work is done, which results in less bruising than traditional eyelift surgery. The procedure is done right here in our private clinic, without the added costs of hospitalization.
What type of anesthetic is used?
Dr. Lozinski performs eyelift surgery under local anesthetic in combination with Ativan (in the Valium family) orally. This avoids the added risk of general anesthetic.
What is the recovery time?
Most people are comfortable going back to work after a week to 10 days. A major social function would ideally be scheduled no sooner than 2 weeks after. Strenuous activity that raises blood pressure should be avoided for at least 2 weeks.
How long does it last?
Most people would do an eyelift no more than once in their lifetime. One must keep in mind that after any cosmetic procedure we get back on the time-aging line but one usually looks better at any point thereafter than if you had not had the treatment. If further skin sagging, (secondary to skin elastic loss from sun damage and maturity) becomes pronounced, repeat blepharoplasty can be considered in some cases.
Treatments that complement this procedure
Some people need a browlift prior to upper eyelid trimming, otherwise their brows are pulled further down closer to their eyes. At Aestheticare, browlifting is done with threads (T-Lift).Trimming of lower eyelid fat is sometimes best combined with laser tightening of the overlying skin. The Ultrapulse CO2laser can tighten skin about 20% and eliminate the crepy (crepe-like) skin.
