New Generation Neck Lift
This unique procedure is performed entirely under local anaesthetic in addition to an oral sedative in the Valium family. Many patients sleep through at least a portion of the procedure.
How is the neck tightened?
One, two or three steps are carried out, depending on the degree of correction desired.
- A small permanent smooth suture ('Giampapa' technique) is suspended side to side (hidden in hairline behind the ears) to lift neck tissue deep to the skin. At least 2 smaller barbed sutures ('Articulus') per side are placed above this to smooth back overlying skin.
- Many people also benefit from more deeply placed sutures to tuck back thick vertical bands of neck muscle into a tighter angle at the midline ('platysmaplasty').
- Judicious tumescent liposuction is recommended as well if the neck is being weighted down by significant fat deposits.
Recovery
Supportive tape is applied to the treated area as well as a chin strap to reduce the effect of gravity on the healing lifted tissue. This is worn most of the time for a week, and the chin strap during sleep for another 4 to 6 weeks. The 'Articulus' (most superficial) threads are adjusted daily for 3 days after the procedure.

Techniques that complement this procedure
Botox to relax neck muscles that tend to pull neck tissue down enhances the result. Thermage may improve the result of Neck Threadlifting. It is, however, a particularly useful addition to thread-lifting Jowls to extend longetivity of the result.
